Kids-Sport club takes over micro scooter traffic training
Safety on the way to school starts with knowledge, practice - and the joy of movement. This is exactly what the Micro Scooter Kids Day program has stood for since 2008: a nationwide initiative to raise traffic awareness that has already inspired over 82,000 children. From August 2025, the Kids-Sport association, headed by Gabi Schibler, will take over the tried-and-tested program from René Lauper - the initiator who put his heart and soul into the project and shaped it over 17 years.
Thousands of children use a scooter every day on their way to school or in their free time. The Kids-Sport courses - in collaboration with Micro, the inventor of the world-famous Micro Scooter - focus on responsible behavior in road traffic. The riding technique training and skill exercises make a valuable contribution to children's coordination and accident prevention.
“I am delighted to be able to continue this valuable program. At Kids-Sport, we are passionate about ensuring that children have fun and learn to move safely and independently - on a scooter as well as in life.” - Gabi Schibler, Managing Director of the Kids-Sport association.
Kids-Sport will continue to develop the program with the proven concept and the same high quality standards - with a focus on practical traffic training, promoting exercise and imparting knowledge in a child-friendly way.
“The Micro Scooter Kids Day was always more than just a project for me - it was a matter close to my heart. Seeing children gain safety, joy and self-confidence was my greatest motivation. I am grateful that Kids-Sport is now a committed partner who shares and carries on this vision.” - René Lauper, initiator of Micro Scooter Kids Day.
Safe on a scooter - at school and in your free time
Whether it's correct braking, safe cornering techniques or recognizing dangers early on - in the 90-minute scooter workshops, children learn everything they need to know to control their scooter safely. The focus is on the ten golden micro-rules, which are taught in an age-appropriate way and with lots of movement. The aim is to give children safety, coordination and self-confidence for everyday life - whether on the way to school or in their free time. In collaboration with Micro, the courses are held directly on site at schools or at events - uncomplicated, effective and with lasting added value.
“Road safety is an issue that is very close to our hearts at Micro. I am proud that our program has reached so many children - and I am delighted that it now has a strong new sponsor in Kids-Sport.” - Wim Ouboter, Micro Founder & CEO

Micro Scooter Kids Day has already raised awareness of important safety issues among over 82,000 children through lots of fun and exercise - an initiative that not only works, but also inspires.
In Switzerland, around 500,000 children ride their scooters to school every day. This makes it all the more important to teach them the right behavior in traffic at an early age. The Kids-Sport courses are held throughout Switzerland and make a valuable contribution to accident prevention - and to the enjoyment of safe riding.
